Distribution Countries and Restrictions

The countries you can make your commercial and non-commercial apps available to depend your type of app and on country agreements and restrictions.

Non-commercial apps are free apps that do not have a download price and do not offer in-app items.
Commercial apps are either:

  • Paid apps that do have a download price and either do or do not offer in-app items.
  • Free apps that offer in-app items.

When a capability or restriction does not specify either type of app, the restriction applies to both types.

Samsung has agreements with countries worldwide to distribute non-commercial and commercial apps.  However, Seller Office account holders located in different countries may be restricted from distributing in some countries due to restrictive policies of the account holder's country or a distribution country. For details, see below.

Samsung distributes apps through two apps stores, the Galaxy Apps store (Android, Galaxy Watch, and Stickers apps), and the Samsung Themes app store (Themes apps).

During registration, you select one or more distribution countries and whether or not to automatically distribute to newly available distribution countries. After registration, Samsung may change the distribution countries that you select for your app due to country restrictions and agreements.

Note: In August 2018, Samsung Gear became Samsung Galaxy Watch. Information referring to Galaxy Watch also applies to earlier Gear devices and apps, unless stated otherwise.

Automatically Add New Distribution Countries

During app registration and updating, in the Country & Pricing tab, you can checkmark 'When SAMSUNG Galaxy Apps becomes available in more countries or with more payment options, your applications will automatically be sold in those countries.'

When a new country becomes available for distribution, your app will be available for download by the new country users. If the app integrates In-App Purchase and has in-app items, the Samsung ecosystem supports the offering and sale of the items.

Note: All restrictions apply to all apps distributed in all Samsung app stores.
