Add complications

Enhance your watch face by adding information through complications. Users can tap on complications to run apps directly from their watch faces.

You can create complications for any component, such as watch hands or indexes. The example in this section shows how to position a complication on a background; however, you do not have to add a background to your watch face before you create a complication.

Galaxy Watch Designer includes several complication templates, which you can use to create your own designs.

This example shows how to create a complication that shows the watch battery status.

  1. Select the Battery complication, and position it on your watch face background.

  2. Customize your complication.
    1. Add an index and a watch hand to the complication. Select Component > Index, then select Component > Watch Hand
    2. From Properties > Rotation Properties, select Sync with > Conditions > Battery %. Then set Rotate to 1.
Note: You can customize any complication in many different ways. In this example, you could display the battery status in digits, and create warning messages that appear when the battery status falls to less than 20%.

  3. Highlight, right-click, and Activate the battery status layer to show the current battery level.
  4. From Properties (see 1 in the following illustration), select Set as Button (see 2, below).
Note: Any complication component can be set as a button.

  5. Edit Complication button properties. When you set the component as a button, two new tabs appear under the complication's PropertiesNormal and Action.
  • Normal controls a component’s properties when it is not being used.
  • Action controls a component’s properties when it is tapped.
  1. Set action that occurs when the button is tapped.
    1. From Properties, click the Action drop-down, and select an action (for example, Open App).
    2. Select your app from the Open App drop-down (for example, Battery status).
